DLSAANC : Headlines : Laid Back Day At Moraga Laid Back Day At Moraga August 19, 2008 -- About a hundred alumni, family and guests gathered at the annual summer picnic held last Sunday at St. Mary's College in Moraga. The day started with the 11AM mass at the quaint college chapel and the picnic followed immediately at the nearby Justin-Mitty Grove. SMC resident Br. Aquinas aka Dominic Berardelli, FSC and picnic organizer Romi Beza got up early to put-up the signs and set-up the buffet table for the Lasallians. In his welcome remarks, DLSAA NorCal President Tom Consunji took the opportunity to inform the community about the activities and the scholarships that the association have been sponsoring in the past years. Before blessing the community and the food, Br. Dom delivered a short spiel on his resident campus. Earlier, Romi noted not only the DLS/SMC alumni that were attending the picnic (Dick Scheerer, Orly Mayor) but also those who were in attendance who either had sons who had attended or were attending SMC. This included Lou Madamba, Clem Yu and Romi himself. Aside from Br. Dom, former La Salle Green Hills Pilipino teacher Nelia Ruiz was in attendance to be with their former students. Alumni came from as far as San Diego (Chuck Garrison) and Manila (Gilbert Jose) to join the fun. Grillmaster Lou Madamba reprised his role last year by bbq-ing to perfection the delicious tritip marinaded by Beng Beza. Former DLSAANC president Mandy Reyes also graciously transported the yummy Filipino food prepared by Tipanan's (and DLS alumnus) Bobbit Soliongco. Deacon Joe Sicat brought the PA system which emcee Manolo Relova used to tickle the crowd with his usual humor, some of them green, of course! Last but not least, the DLS Greens Ladies Brigade led by Cristine Consunji and Teresa Reyes whipped up the salad and arranged the lunch buffet table. As for the games, the Team Young Ones won a t-shirt each when they beat Team Young Once in the so-called DLSAANC Idol contest. All throughout the afternoon, Br. Dom gave a personal campus tour to the Lasallians up until his cart battery almost ran out! Thanks to one and all for participating in our annual picnic!
