DLSAANC Remits Funds to DLSAA Ondoy Fund

October 14, 2009 -- The De La Salle Alumni Association of Northern California along with its Washington DC-Maryland-Virginia counterpart, La Salle Philippines Alumni Association, remitted a total of $2,835 yesterday to the DLSAA Manila Ondoy Relief Fund. The LSPAA coursed its donation thru the DLSAANC to avail of whatever tax benefits ithe latter provides as a duly-registered non-profit organization.

In a message issued to the NorCal Lasallian community, DLSAANC President Art Dancel thanked the generosity and compassion of the donors. He said that the monetary support will have immediate impact in the relief efforts back in Manila in terms of providing funds for food, water, clothing, medical supplies and the like for the flood victims. The breakdown of the remitted funds is as follows:

The two overseas alumni chapters decided to donate money instead of soliciting donations in kind to facilitate the provision of much-needed relief goods to the thousands of Filipinos who were displaced and even lost loved ones due to the unprecedented floods caused by Typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila. Material contributions would have taken weeks before reaching Manila. Meantime, two weeks after the typhoon struck, a considerable portion of Metro Manila and nearby areas remain flooded and are in dire need to assistance.
