2009 Christmas Party A Resounding Success! The association's annual Christmas party held last Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at the
Embassy Suites in Burlingame was a resounding Close to a hundred alumni and friends danced the night away to the pulsating live music of the Synthesis Band. In a departure from previous holiday parties, young Lasallians took the lead in both organizing the event as well as dominating the dance floor. While old but reliable Orly Mayor chaired the event, he leaned heavily on the able assistance of his young committee members, namely, Dino Africa (young at heart), Yo Aquino, Emma Magbitang, Caloy Narciso and Irvin Sevilla. The young ones took the lead as well in the dance floor as the usual ballroom music gave way to their hip-hop beat. Caloy started the event with a meaningful invocation before livewire MC Manolo Relova took over. Association President Art Dancel gave his welcome remarks before the congregation took on the delicious food on the buffet table. DLS Green 2009 Golfer of the Year Manny Noguera was also awarded his trophy before the appreciative crowd. The event proved to be a successful fundraiser as well. Despite the tough economic times, the gathering raised close to $4,500 for the benefit of the DLSAANC's Philippine charities. Allan Silva donated the top silent auction jewelry prize which was won by Art's first lady, Chona. MC Manolo Relova again provided the night's top raffle prizes. Maria Baris won the first prize consisting of a roundtrip to the Philippines via Philippine Air Lines along with a hotel-and-golf package at the famous Baguio Golf and Country Club. Second prize winner (and former director) Jerry Gutierrez has a choice between a single person roundtrip ticket to the Philippines or two roundtrip tickets to Hawaii via Hawaiian Air Lines.Merry Christmas to one and all! |
