"Ginto Na Ang Berde" Achieves Its Mission (Editor's note: Below is the article from the Marc 18, 2010 online edition of Philippine Star.) MANILA, Philippines - The Feb. 6 celebration of LSGH’s 50th anniversary and Batch 85’s Silver Jubilee broke previous attendance records in the school’s long history of homecoming events.Led by the Berde Brothers of Batch 85, the LSGH alumni community made their presence felt that night, when food and drinks were in abundance, and an overwhelming spirit of fellowship pervaded the school grounds. Over 2,200 people came on homecoming night, dubbed “Ginto Na Ang Berde.” The record-breaking attendance was made possible by the active presence of co-host batches of Classes 1970, 1975,1980, 1990, 1995, 2000, and 2005, as well as the other batches, both old and new, who wanted to be part of the culminating festivities for LSGH’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. Batch 85 also saw a sizeable number of its balikbayan batchmates making the trip to the Philippines just to be part of the celebration. What LSGH Batch 85 Berde Brothers are most proud of is the fact that they were able to fulfill their commitment of P1 million as donation to the One La Salle Scholarship Fund, a campaign to raise P1 billion by the year 2011 to support and send about 18,000 scholars to 17 Lasallian schools all over the Philippines. Photo in this article shows LSGH Chief Finance Officer Manny Lahoz '75 acknowledging the donation of the Silver Jubilee Class'85. A representative from Batch 80 commended Batch 85 for a “beautiful homecoming” made even more significant by the presence of balikbayan batchmates who were so happy to have made the trip. |
