Hizon / Olives Team Wins 2-Man Best Ball Tourney

Matt Hizon and Enrique Olives teamed up to win the inaugural 2009 DLS Greens golf tournament at Presidio Golf Course last Saturday (May 14) in run-away fashion over 11 other aspiring duos. The winning team scored net 32/31 on the front and back nines to post an impressive 9-under-par 63 on the vintage (1895) Robert Johnstone-designed course.  The day's weather was overcast, windy and even chilly but it did not stop the Lasallians and their guests from doing the  early morning 8:42a tee-off and having their fun. The golf scores weren't too shabby either, especially considering the tight fairways, well-placed bunkers and small greens. 1st runner-up honors went to the Ron Riego de Dios / Arnold Mercado team (net 67) while 2nd runner-up honors was won by the team of Arlo Santos and Clem Yu. The top two winners (Hizon/Olives and De Dios/Mercado) will represent the club in the NCGA Associate Club Four-Ball Qualifying tournament on May 14, 2009 at a site that still has to be determined. Winner of that tournament will advance to the 2-day championship at Poppy Hills/Spyglass golf courses on June 29-30, 2009.

NEXT TOURNAMENT: CALLIPPE PRESERVE, APRIL 18 - Saturday, Format: Low Net (we will also be selecting the top 4 overall low net players, based on NCGA requirements (18.4 index max, etc), to represent DLS Greens to the NCGA Associate Club qualifying on June 3 or June 10).
