Noguera, Yu Vie For GOY Award At Poppy Ridge Tourney
Oct. 22, 2011 -- After seven tournaments, only two golfers are in the
running for this year's edition of the Golfer of the Year. Manny "I Want To Win Again"
Noguera and Clement "Oh No You Don't" Yu both need to beat each other in this year's last tournament that will be held on Saturday November 12, 2011 at the Poppy Ridge Golf Club in Livermore.
A mere 20 points separate the two golfers so a better score can either tie or
win the golfer this year's GOY. Jun Rima is a distant third and is
mathematically out of contention. For this year, GOY points are awarded as
follows: 1st place: 150; 2nd place: 130; 3rd place: 110; 4th place: 90; and 50
points for participation. Clem has won two tournament thus far to Manny's zero
but the latter is ahead because of overall stronger finishes.
The 2011 DLS Greens Tour has extended into November this year because the first scheduled tournament last March at Poppy Ridge was rained out. Clem can win his first GOY if he performs better than Manny at the Poppy Ridge tournament. If Manny wins, it will be his fourth GOY.
Below is the cumulative Golfer of the Year award standings leading to the Poppy Ridge tournament. Excluded are a few DLS Greens members who just competed in one tournament this year.
