July 27, 2014 — The DLS Alumni Association of Northern California held its annual picnic at familiar grounds again — at the Justin Mitty Grove of the Saint Mary’s College in Moraga. President Irvin Sevilla led around 50 alumni, family and friends celebrate their scholastic roots starting with the 11a mass. As usual, SMC Assistant to the President and former La Salle Green Hills Principal Dominic aka Aquinas Berrardelli, FSC was on hand to reminisce with former students the days when the American Brothers of the San Francisco District established and governed the pioneering Lasallian schools in the Philippines (Taft, Green Hills, Lipa and Iligan).
The current officers organized the laid-back event which featured the usual sumptuous, if not calorie-packed, pot luck buffet table. Br. Dominic led the group in giving thanks for the many blessings before leading the way himself in partaking of the food. Picnickers enjoyed new friendships in the sprawling area before gathering in familiar table groups of Taft, Green Hills, Lipa and Alabang alumni. As in last year, LSGH Class’76 led by former association president Romi Beza and incumbent director Clem Yuhad the most participants (7), one of whom came all the way from Toronto, Canada. Former Presidents Joe Batto and Manny Noguera represented the fading group of senior (but ageless) alumni. No matter what their age and campus affiliation were, however, good fun was had by all!
