June 19, 2021 — Monique Agatep won year’s third DLSAANC Greens Tour tournament by scoring 7-under par 65 off the red tees of the revamped links-style Baylands Golf Course at Palo Alto, CA. Monique won by two stroke over Manny Noguera, who teed off the blue tees like the rest of the competing male golfers. Mannie Castillo won a tiebreaker with Tony Colmenares to bag third-place honors.

Eighteen men and two women alumni and their friends tested their golf skills at the afternoon wind-swept course. The golfers otherwise enjoyed pleasant mild weather on what was the last day of spring.

The final memorial service for our former association president Jose “Joey” de Ocampo GS’58 HS’62 will be held on Wednesday Jan. 16 2pm at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church located at 201 Eucalyptus Drive in San Francisco (near Stonestown Mall) where he had been an active elder for many years.

Joey passed on last Wednesday Jan. 9 while awaiting surgery. Joey was a warrior until the end in battling his decades-long illness. He is survived by his two sons Miguel and JV, mother, brother Bobby (former Philippine Finance Secretary during the Fidel Ramos administration and current chairman of Philippine Veterans Bank) and a grandson.

About twenty alumni led by current and past association presidents Jerry Gutierrez, Mandy Reyes, Tom Consunji and Manny Noguera as well as best friend Tom Umali paid their respects at the pre-cremation viewing of Joey at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary in Daly City. Joey will be cremated tomorrow (Monday).

Rest in peace, Joey!

There will be memorial Mass in both Northern and Southern California to remember Jimmy on the 40th day anniversary of his passing.

Let us get together and pray for the repose of the soul of Jimmy. Plan on wearing something green, which was Jimmy’s favorite color.
