April 19, 2014 — Manny Noguera won for the second time in as many tournaments at this month’s well-attended tournament held today at the Nicklaus Club – Monterey Golf Club in Monterey. The golf course was erstwhlie known as the Pasadera Country Club before being rebranded in October 2013 after its eponymous world major title record holder designer, Jack Nicklaus. A total of 32 DLS Greens golfers and guests motored to the private golf course to test their golf skills off the relatively short 5,719 yard yet challenging 131 slopre rated par 71 white tees.
Manny scored 1-under 70 to beat runner-up Tom Consunji by two strokes in the Flight A division. Manny Quiogue beat Ramon Khu and Jojo Espiritu via a scorecard tiebreaker to place third. Seveneen golfers competed in the division.
For Flight B, Nutsie Maloles scored a non-sandbagging 63 to win by by three strokes over Bobby Panlasigue. Guest Walter Khu beat Lasallian Tony Colmenares via another scorecard tiebreaker to garner third place. Fifteen golfers participated in this division.
The usual overcast Monterey Peninsula weather prevailed during the round as the golfers pitted their golf skills against the course’s elevation changes and natural terrain featuring hills, canyons and oak groves. The day’s low gross bragging rights went to Tom Consunji (81).
