MINUTES: Meeting in Session, 7:45pm
1. Prayer led by Mr. President.
2. February Minutes reviewed and approved.
3. Treasurer updated Art prior to meeting: received another $140 membership checks @ $35 each. World Congress ad will be updated to reflect all paid members for 2009.
4. Update of DLSAANC membership – Art updated the 2009 membership roster based on Matt’s roster submitted in February to be used for the World Congress ad. Official count is 75 DLSAANC members at this time. This includes the $140 membership checks recently received by the Treasurer, Yollie.
5. Changes to the World congress ad – highlight past presidents in bold, and board of directors names to show in the bottom of the list of officers. All members names are listed.
6. “Green Day” – asked Caloy to lead the promotion – “Green Day” is a theme to recognize the class most represented during the DLSAANC Annual Family Picnic. “Green Day” to be introduced in the Family Picnic to attract alumni and increase membership.
7. Walk for (Life) LaSalle – volunteers asked, Orly Mayor to lead. Art to overseer overall picnic activities, scheduled for Saturday, July 25, after the July 18th golf tournament. Picnic site at Lake Elizabeth Park in Fremont, CA. Walk to start around 10am (free participation). Participants encouraged to solicit donations / pledges from their friends, neighbors and associates of $5 per mile walked. The walk trail around the lake in Fremont Park measures 2 miles. Sponsors will also be solicited displaying their name on a banner for $25 & $50 at half and full-size respectively. Art needs to finalize details with the park such as placement of banner sponsors, selection of site.
8. Small outing activity is placed on back burner.
9. Mixer- potential venue is Intramuros, So. SFO to be scheduled in May, middle of the week (Thursday). Details TBD. Frank to lead the activity.
10. Karaoke night with the Stars – to be held in the 3rd quarter of the year per Dingdong Avanzado. Joji and Ron getting Ichiban and Solitas details, possibly held in August and September or twice in September. Venue to be secured ahead of time before arrival of Stars.
11. Car Raffle – legalities still need to be discussed. Art and Emma to do research. Partnering with another organization to assist in the marketing of tickets is a consideration.
12. 5th Fil-Am Golf, scheduled on Sept 19 in SkyWest GC, Hayward, CA. Arnold volunteered to Chair the event.
13. Christmas party – scheduled on Dec 5. Frank will Chair, Emma to Co-Chair. Venue TBD.
14. Web Hosting – stay with current provider. Irvin volunteered as back up to webmaster pending Romi Beza’s input.
15. Bahay Pag-Asa – Romi and Joe Batto attended the inauguration of the new Bahay Pag-Asa in Dasmarinas, Cavite in February, 2009. The issue is if DLSAANC has committed to sponsor a room in the building. According to Romi, there may have been an interior room which DLSAANC has pledged to support. This will be clarified with Bro Gus next month. Caloy suggested to relay message to members that DLSAANC may be planning to support a room. Pictures will be emailed to board members. Motion by Art to pledge/donate a minimum of $1000 to Bahay Pag-Asa, seconded by Caloy and Frank…agreed.
16. World Congress is May 22 weekend, Memorial Day holiday. Count of attendees from the Board is not certain yet.
17. Review of By-Laws – committee comprised of Tom Consunji, Manny Noguera, Mandy Reyes, and 2 Co-Secretaries. Invite the committee to attend the April meeting. Still outstanding.
18. Revise membership template, separate blank Employer and Industry. Template to be posted in website for easy access to any prospective new member.
19. Next meeting at the residence of Willie and Rose Salgado (April 24th) in Danville. 7Pm
